My railroad is in N Scale and being built in one end of my work shop. It is ningeteen feet
long and three feet deep. A passage through the wall provides for hidden track. There are
two continuous loops and the maintenance facility/yard at Jackson Ohio. The primary cities
in Ohio will be Jackson, Washington C. H., Ironton, and Springfield. Other sites of interest
will be the Royersville tunnel, the steel mill in Trenton Michigan, the mining area in the
southern area.

 1-6-07 I was not satisfied with the coal mine hatch that represented southern Ohio/Virginia so I thought it was time to rebuild. . I used Styrofoam as a base this time
to make it light and easy to lift off. I also decided to make it a strip mine rather than the original type. Here is the original hatch with the beginnings of the new
structure. The plan is to include a hopper car loading facility to enable transporting all that coal up north to the Ford factory. Update (1/16/07) have added
all the proposed detailes and am going to put a fork in it and call it done for now. I think the affect is good. For an overview of the area click here.
Hmmmm What should I work on next???
    7-8-09 Wow!! It has been over 2 years sience the last time I had a chance to work on the RR. Guess the first thing I need to do is clean the dust from it!!!

S		 3-27-11 Well I finally got back to it. Have been working on the Ironton ara and have accomplished quite a bit. There is a new car barge with tug boat,
a new docking facility, A new boat maintenance shop and dock at the marina, a new Shell service station, the Ohio river is in place, and a new feed grain
facility has replaced the old one. There are new homes alonge the river, and a new backdrop on the back wall. Next area to be worked will be Springfield.

 4-5-11 The Springfield area is to be completly redone. First thing is to redo the hill that I am not satisified with.

Research on the area identified "an old covered bridge on the road to Springfield". This something that I thought would be a great feature. First I built
the bridge and then had to decide where to put it. As I walked up to the layout it was staring me right in the face! A road that was just waiting to be
developed, and right in the front of the area. Next all that had to be done was to excavate "Buck Creek" which runs through Springfield and install the
bridge supports....

It is amazing what a difference a little paint makes! Considering that the creek has to go somewhere and the Ohio River was close by it was a natural to go there.
The difference in the levels presents a place to do a small waterfall, something that I haven't modeled as yet.

The area between the creek and the tracks is not large enough for much. What will fit there? Ah yes...What is there a lot of in Ohio...farms!!!
Let's see...we will need a farm bridge to get there, a barn, some fencing, some farm animals and then pour the water material. I think this area is done...

Well I just thought I was done with the creek area! I want to have some of the prominent features located in Springfield. One of these was the Ohio Edison
electric plant. It turns out that this plant was on the creek that I had just finished so that means re-routing the creek past the electric plant.

With the creek now routed to where the electric plant will be it is time to start on the plant. Hmmm...Nothing readily available to build it with so maybe a
backdrop would work. It will also enable the capture of other local landmarks. Nothing like a little computer graphics magic!!
